Gorgeous!

I have a couple of 11/34s and a Model 35 ASR, so I can't run BSD, but
I've banged out Hello World on V6. I was very surprised to learn
things I had somehow never heard, despite having devoured all I could
read at the time; for example, I knew that pipe had been ^ because of
the lack of | on the Teletype, but I had no idea it didn't have curly
brackets! Seeing int main \( was a real surprise and joy.

I was also very surprised how similar 2.11 BSD, or even V7 Unix, is to
a "modern" Unix system. V6 feels very familiar, but in a
mirror-universe way. Enough things don't work quite as expected to be
continually surprising until you spend some time with it. (On the
other hand, it's perfectly happy with an all caps terminal with very
little fuss!) Some day I will get my hands on a 22-bit PDP-11, but in
the meantime I have the PiDP-11 to tide me over.

This video does make me feel wonder and love, but in the PDP-11 world,
as in the Teletype world, in my experience there is very little
silence to be found. ;-)
