If I understand you correctly, I am in agreement! This is why I did my project for an external loop and current control panel. I would love to bypass the internal supply on the ST-6, but I might instead work to do that on a Dovetron I have, which will hopefully, make it to the bench one of these days for evaluation.

Following up, issues like this is why I really like having a terminal unit act like a Teletype. It should be able to key a floating loop and sense the current in a floating loop. An external loop supply with all equipment (KSR printer, TD, Reperf, and TU) have the same interface to the loop.
