Dale... reading your post, I thought: "It's like I have a twin!"... I was
thinking EXACTLY the same thing when I saw the 7800 and 7000 external video
at Dayton last weekend, and I discussed it in great detail re: the ProIII (I
bought one Sunday AM) with two of ICOM's tech people. Both insisted it would
be extremely difficult to pull the video out without major surgery to the
ProIII and major external circuitry to process the signal. In short, they
said it's possible but would be very hard and very expensive. They seemed
quite conversant on the subject because (they said) many have asked the same
question after seeing what the 7800 and 7000 can do. And they said that they
think most future rigs will include that capability.... the 7800 and 7000
are just the first. My conclusion is that it's a shame, but .... for the
ProIII, fageddaboutit...8^(
