[Johnson] Valiant on SSB driven by FT-817?

I have a Central Electronics 10B exciter which puts out about 6 watts.  I run it through my Heathkit SB200 and I get about 60 watts out. The 
Green Pig (nickname for Heathkit amp's) operators dowm Texas way tell me with the solid state finals of
modern transmitters they put a tuner either automatic or manual between the
exciter and the amp.  The Idea is no matter what happens in the amp the finals in the exciter will see the correct impedence.
