Hey Stranger. Well the simplest answer to your question is calling Bill (The
Looper Engineering Guru) up or email him. He will give you 'the scoop on the
loop' and it will work the first time. My loop works WAY better than my
flattop vertical in the trees even when it is -18F outside.

I have a confession to make. I haven't really followed the whole
"transmit loop antenna" thing, due to having a flattop  "T"
antenna in place for LF work.

However, I'm now seriously considering the use of a loop
antenna for my Medfer beacon. Could someone point
me to design articles or other information on how to
construct the loop?

Also, are the loops ground independent? That is to say, could
I mount the transmitter and loop high up in the air without
concern about a ground system?
