I just looked a a North American map and was I surprised! .....and I've been 
to Anchorage.

Yah, but it's hard to compare a winter season with a summer season. Seems 
like it was very late in the winter season when Mitch arrived at this loop 
configuration. Also, it takes more than downed leaves to make a vertical 
work well in a treed environment.
