[Milsurplus] Interesting Discovery Channel movie...annoying...

Last night there was an interesting discussion of the Bermuda 
Triangle and flight 19 which was 5 Grumman Avengers right 
after WWII getting lost and disappearing.

Most interesting part of it for me was the re-enactment of the 
air base radio station trying to talk the chief navigator of the 
Grumman flight to keep flying the direction he was going, 
rather than to turn away. The navigator was so sure his 
compass was incorrect, that he ignored the radio op and flew 
further out into the Atlantic.

In any case, the ground station had what looked like a very nice 
BC-348 as their central prop, but along side of it was what 
looked like that FM tank transceiver, the BC-1339? from which 
the sound was emanating and into which it looked like the mic 
was connected.

Sure wish those programs would get it right, even ONCE.

You would think with all the expert talent here, at least ONE of 
those studios would ask you guys for some advice, ONCE in a 
while.

Gee...
