[Milsurplus] BC-342-D Help Needed (Again)

Well, this BC-342-D is turning into the radio from hell.

One of the resistors in the R-15/R-50/R-48 cluster started burning and smoking. (Hard to tell which it is because the color bands on all
three are pretty well worn off). The related caps (C-48, C-49 and C-50) have all been replaced and are fine. I had also replaced the
C-29, C-30 and C-31 cluster as well as the C-35, C-36 and C-37 cluster. I had replaced C-83 in the RF Oscillator box as well.

I examined the R-15/R-50/R-48 cluster very carefully. No wires are touching.

WHen I disconnect the wire going into the 2nd RF box underneath the chassis, the smoke stops. The wire going into the 2nd RF box reads a
dead short (when that wire is disconnected from the R-15, R-50-R-48/C-48, C-49, C-50 cluster). The leads going into the 1st RF and
Detector boxes do not read shorts.

Any ideas? I'm sort of at my wit's end with this.

                    Joe Connor
