[Milsurplus] Timonium on the 6th

I was there, and have been going for some years now. No question about it not being what it used to be but then again what is? Did not see the bicycles and boxes of clothing this last year but did see that more three of four years back when they had both inside and outside selling with one of the buildings being taken over by typical flee market crap. Did see that they had at least a half dozen or so of the consumer electronic junk and junk tool sales people there last year but they were all over in the section closest to the parking lot and the general sales area in the cow palace had all ham radio and computer stuff. Last year I bought a military tactical display terminal, bunch of SINGARS cables, and a mount for my VRC-90 and a little Harris military HF auto tuner that I ended up selling that more than I paid for everything I bought, besides after being cooped up all winter any ham fest will do.

Every mention I've heard has been in the context of not going. I didn't go last year and those who did said it was a bust, waste of time, etc since the tax nazis shut down the tailgating outside. Aside from the one building with the commercial vendors, in the past much of the inside selling was junk unrelated to radio in any way, like huge boxes of used clothing, lawn ornaments, broken bicycles, toys, etc. The radio stuff was hidden within. Gave me the impression that they were more concerned with selling spaces than putting on a hamfest.
A far cry from the days when the parking lot would be full up to the gate at the road. I suspect it will follow Gaithersburg into the black hole of the past. Makes sense though, when you look at the state's approach. Beretta is even looking at moving their facilities out of state thanks to more ridiculous laws.

Who else will be going to the Timonium ham fest Saturday? Is there any interest in a 51.0 net at the site? With everything being indoors it's not as good as when it was both inside and outside for tailgating but still worth going to, at least for me. I remember back in the seventies when it was all inside at some college.
