on the dollar. And the guy puts them on the shelf ready for the next
buyer. The studios just write it off as the cost of doing business....

I can't see there being enough if a demand for period props for this to be longterm viable. Maybe it is some kind of tax writeoff, or a place for the owner to hoard and display his ownings, like 'Electronic Dimensions' in Tacoma WA was. ( Anyone here recall that business ?)
