[Milsurplus] NPS type SP radio - a question

This 'National Parks Service" type SP radio tunes around 3 to 3.5 MHz.
Is retuning it to 40 meter hamband, 7 to 7.3 MHz, too radical a change ?
Power is about 2 watts input.
