I genuinely cannot fathom a  BC-221 ,being used as an AM transmitter.  First  no mic input, second, hapower out is arguably less than a mw.  Just saying...

So that makes more than one account, and makes the Harry Lewis story i read in ‘Worldradio’ magazine some decades back, more likely to be
realistic and not just total fiction.
