I gave my RAL away atva hamfest about 5 years ago. Maybe i am mistaken, but i cannot think of a single tube in it that you cannot get for $2 at a hamfair. I gave it away due to its size. I really need to cut down. I sort of regret giving away my National NBS-1 after i discovered the power transformer was missing. Someone later gave me an NC-183 that could have been a donor, but oh well, win some, lose some. It's not like i lack receiver projects.
Now speaking of vacuum tubes, valves, some are hard to find and some not. Japanese WW2 1.5 volt acorns, good luck, you will need it ! The detector - amp tube for the German DKE38 'Peoples' Radio', why is it $80 ? You would think they made millions of them - the radio is not rare ! The CW-915 peanut tubes for the ME-1 aircraft radio, hmm, unobtainium, better find a later, triode sub. Just for some egregious examples.
At the last NWVRS swap meet i attended, several tables of tubes were simply given away at end of day. The reasoning was apparently, audio hifi tubes still bring premium prices on Ebay, but selling your 6GH8 and 12AU6 and so on, good luck. The actual usage of tubes is in very low hours compared to olden times. The tube owners' bonanza failed to develop; the market is miniscule.
Now the RAK RAL knobs. I had multiple requests, which overwhelmed me. But, note, i will not send them because you might need them in the future. Instant disqualification. I have seen, maybe owned, an RAL with nice modern knobs - pretty smart, easy upgrade by someone, right ? So it's a pretty small box, compared to other stuff i have. I can hold it til i encounter someone who actually needs original knobs.
At that same NWVRS meet, an RAL was also given away. I knew better than to take it, but i talked to the fellie who did, and he said he had several of them. I really like regen receivers, but that category is already well covered here; Mackay 117; Marconi 730; RCA AR-8501.
