Hi
“Back in the day” (1960’s) when I started playing with ARC-5 receivers, it was pretty common for folks to suggest you run 150 to 180V. Being a kid, I didn’t dive too deep into the “why”. I just went with what folks told me. It always seemed to work pretty well. Was it written up anywhere? I have no idea.

(By the way, even 175VDC is enough to blow the .05's, so I am on a long term quest to replace all, either with re-stuffed cans or just wiring them in. Otherwise, letting them fail is like playing condenser Whack-a-Mole)
