Hi Cecil,
Is that due to someone using the motor drive tuning carelessly? I don't  
think the 
bandswitching motor would affect the PTO? 
 
I have an R-389 and never use the motor drive tuning because I don't like  
the way
it turns so fast. It almost scared me how fast the knob would spin and all  
I
could think of is it would subject the PTO and drive train to excessive  
wear.
 
If someone ran it full speed to end of band I could see how it might  
subject the PTO
to damage. My recommendation - never use the motor drive tuning.
