[Yaesu] Fast scanning on FT-ONE

Hi,
I bought a used FT-ONE on eBay which fails to do something the manual
says it should do, but would welcome input from others.

If I press the slow up/down scanning buttons on the rig, so the rig
will scan If I press the Fast up.down scanning buttons, nothing will
happen. From what I can see, this is supposed to scan in 100 kHz
steps, which seems pretty pointless on an HF transceiver. I'm
wondering if I'm doing something wrong, or mis-understanding the
manual.
