Gang,

All this talk about old Yaesu's like the FT-One got me into finally aligning
my newest FT-980. Everthing went OK until I started putting back on the
bottom case.

The battery back up is by two AA batteries and I have three FT-980's and
have never had a problem with the battery back up (except for the chore of
replacing them every 6 months or so). Well today
I put the bottom case back and was aligning all the holes (not easy) when
the battery clip and bottom battery case fell out and the wires broke. I
re-attached and soldered the wires and get just short of 3 V DC. I enter a
couple of memories which I use for splits and then turned off the power and
after a few minutes turned it back on and the memories are no longer be
saved.

Any ideas why not? Batteries are Ok. I looked and the wires are still
firmly attached and soldered
inside the rig. I checked one of the other 980's (which works) and
everything looks the same.

I am planning to find a 3 V DC wall wart to save changing batteries. But
does anyone have any ideas??? The memories save so long as the power is on
but go away when turned off.
