I would guess that there are comparative radiation pattern measurement data available
on Magnetic Loop Antennas, particularly since they've been used by US military.

Any nonclassified data available that can be shared?

(Is this type of work still done on at Fort Monmouth? Much done there has been
publicized in the past.)

I've been reading so many claims (here in DK) about how fantastic MLA's are supposed
to be compared to dipoles and verticals but my own few experimental MLA's showed
them to be OK in comparison but not more than that.

Are they superior for short distance communication via very hi angle radiation and
vertical ionosphere bounce back? If so that would explain why they would be useful
in jungle and/or mountainous terrain (Viet Nam).

Some say that MLA's have to be kept a good distance from metal structures, others
say doing so doesn't have any strong negative influence. My guess is that the former is right.
