Wayne, next time your friend wants to do something like that, have him have you check around.  I have a Detrola BC-1206 that has parts missing from it.  I would have traded him that one for his presumably intact one.

I have a Lear and a Narco old coffee grinder type of aircraft radio if anyone wants to gut one out to create a nice fake period panel.
