Heat in an oven to a temperature of 150°F - 200°F for about 30 minutes 
and then, holding the back shell with an oven mitt, run a nylon or 
wooden dowel down in the cable ferrule and tap with a small hammer.  
This assumes you have removed the back shell locking screw first.
