OK, OK, I've been trying to stay out of this.
My original Hammarlynd SP-600 cabinet has 10-32 threaded mounting holes,
so he probably doesn't need J-nuts. This is a standard rack-mount
situation, so it won't hurt to order fifty or a hundred of the
appropriate screws and washers.
Once you get beyond the local hardware store, you'll want to check out
McMaster Carr http://www.mcmaster.com/ They are easy to work with and
have almost everything. If nothing else, their website is a good
reference to what exists.
What you need is are "countersunk finishing washers." These are normally
used with an "oval head machine screws." A flat-head will work but
doesn't look as pretty.
Many finishing washers are stamped out of sheet stock, and can end up
damaging the paint of the panel. I much prefer to use plastic (nylon)
finishing washers. That's what I put on my SP-600 years ago when I
cleaned it up. I don't remember exactly what the originals were. They
come in black and white.
My two cents,
Al
