The "normal" round head #10-32 machine screws work very well with the washers and look pretty good.  Over the years I have replaced missing and/or rusty washers and machine screws on my Collins "A" Line receivers, on my Hallicrafters HT-20 and Heath DX-100 transmitters, and so forth with new washers and new #10-32 machine screws.
