Several people have asked what information I received on my Super Pro.
Chuck, N7RHU forwarded me a bunch of great websites. Here is his email reply.
It sounds like you have a BC-779. Your manual is TM11-866. A very good
scan of the manual is available at:

a different scan is in the military directory at BAMA

As these receivers approach 70 years of age, even bathtub capacitors can
degrade and fail. If in doubt, test them, but I wouldn't start testing
bathtubs unless I was pretty sure I had a problem to find. There are
some caps hidden deep in the RF front end that require disassembly. A
good description of this was put on the web by Al, W8UT, at:

(note, click the small photos on this site to see big clear ones...)
A much bigger problem than bathtubs are the waxed paper capacitors
hidden INSIDE two of the IF transformer cans. To get into these cans,
first apply a drop of very good penetrating oil to the two 6-32 machine
screws in the side of the can and let it sit for several days. If these
screws do not release from the studs they are screwed into, the studs
may twist loose and you have a major problem (I've been there). If these
caps are leaky, you will probably have to replace some resistors in the
same cans.
