Idle minds are the devil's tools:

When running push-pull, either RF or audio, what is the actual current draw?

If one tube draws 100 ma, when conducting, the other tube, which is not conducting, draws 0 ma.  I can see where a meter in the circuit may read 200 ma., but the cycles are happening so fast the meter can't respond.

Or, what is it?
