[FedCom] Dalai Lama Visit/Speech Smith College Northampton MA

video at the www.wwlp.com  website last night which showed part of the 
security detail.  The 1800 hrs news cast showed a brief video of the 
motorcade and there was at least one SUV with very heavy tinted windows & 
numerous antennas on it.   Also Check out TV 3 CBS

The FBI, Northampton PD, & Smith College PD provided the security.  His 
Holiness had arrived yesterday & I think he departed today & stayed 
overnight at the Hotel  Northampton  http://www.hotelnorthampton.com/    He 
gave a speech & answered questions to the 5,000+ invited guest at Smith 
College (0900 to approx 1200 hrs local).

167.5875R (167.9) was active with inbound support units and seemed to 
indicate that the Alpha series freqs were going to be used -- so I'm going 
to assume that the FBI had a portable repeater and/or used simplex channels 
in Northampton.

868.0125R (156.7) ITAC 4 was used primarily as the all agencies coordination 
frequency.

Mass State PD Trunking System B-PTL-1 & STATEWIDE also carried radio 
traffic, which I assume was motocade support, traffic support, 
transportation security, and emergency response.  It appeared that buses 
were utilized to bring many of the 5,000 invited guest to the Smith College 
campus

I'm going to assume that the standard Northampton City Police & Fire & Smith 
College frequenices were also used BUT I'm just too far away at work to be 
able to monitor these systems.

Unclear whether the Hotel Northampton uses any radios, but perhaps UHF 
simplex low power may be used.

As always additional monitoring efforts input would be appreciated.
