Friends,

Things are "Booming" out here in San Diego. Since last month we have
completed the installation of the Digital Data Central Office (DDS
Hub, end office), portable D4 carrier system, off-net access bay,
outside plant repeater, and customer DSUs. In addition we have
installed a Teletype Repair Shop; set up with work bench, 28ASR bench
machine (still need a gear shift for this machine) all 69 volumes of
Bell System Practices (BSPs) or "Technical Manuals", and all of the
Bell System (racing stripes) Mini-Manuals. 100A test distributor,
164-C1 and 164-C4 distortion scopes, DXD distortion generating and
measuring set, and four shelving units filled with spare Teletype
equipment for maintenance.

Typing units for M28s (both civilian and military), M35s, M37, and
M33. Also spare reperforators for M28, and M35. One LARP (600 wpm)
punch is on display. All of the models of 28 equipment are on
display... In additon we have a Model 15 KSR and Model 35 ASR running
for demos. Soon will have a Model 31 running and the M14 strip
printer and M14 TD and KTRs will also be running.
On display is the M33 "Bill Gates/Jim Allen" Model 33ASR, a wide
carriage Model 38ASR, a Model 37 KSR (sans desk) two BRPE (1050 wpm)
punches. A Model 4210 Magnetic Tape Terminal Unit, a Model 40 KD and
ROP. Model 4540 workstation with a Navy Magnetic Cassette Tape Unit.

In the works for future display is the Model 12 and most of the
military field teletypewriters and TEMPEST units, M28 R-T Cabinet
with 2 R-T units. A Comstore unit for Model 40s using the 8"
floppies, and many, many more items.

More good news. It now looks very positive for our move about this
time next year to the former Naval Training Center. There will be
room to display all of the equipment and get it wired and in
operation. After waiting for this opportunity since 1984 I am very
pleased that my dream is coming to reality.

The combined museum Of course showcases the history of the Computer
and the history of Cryptology from Roman times through Vietnam.

The museum is located at 640 "C" Street (7th and C) in the "Gaslamp
District" of San Diego. Phone number is (619) 235-8222. The museum
is open Tuesday through Sunday form 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Time.

I toured a retired AVP from BellSouth and the infamous William J.
Buckley yesterday through the museum. Their comments were
"Wonderful, I will have to come again when I have more time."

I will be updating all of the photos on our website in the near future.

God bless you --- everyone...

Don
