[GreenKeys] 32KSR - You can tell it's MATTEL... it's swell!

This is great information, but a couple questions. I have my first 32ASR
(working on obtaining a 28) but I can only get it to not run open by wedging
the CONN switch open. Did you mean turning the phone dial instead? Didn't
see that made an diference. Also, is there a loop supply built in or do I
need another source?

Sorry if these are simple questions but it's my first 32 and kind of feeling
my way around.

Thanks and 73 Bill WM4SG

Wayne,

I have worked on most Teletype machines, from the 12 to the 37. If
you would like my personal opinion... I would clean up the 32 and let
it sit as a static display. The 32, 33, and 38 were all low cost
machines and are very frustrating to work on. I believe the 28 ASR
to be one of the finest machines Teletype ever made. I suggest you
concentrate on it. Manuals are available on both machines, and you
can probably find much of what you need on line at http://www.rtty.com

If the 32 you have is a former TELEX all you have to do us hook up
120 - 130 volts DC, 60 ma to the mounting cord. To work in the local
mode the dial has to be blocked in an off-normal position.

If you want to see a 32 in action with great detail, watch your TV
Guide for a documentary on the life of Robert MacNamara. The working
title was "Wilson's Ghost" We provided all of the IBM and Teletype
support for the movie.

Good luck,

Don
