[GreenKeys] FW: RTTY over the internet

Hi James - I love Winamp and Shoutcast, but Winamp's User Interface, is,
IMHO, just a bit on the counter-intuitive side... o well.

With Shoutcast and Winamp both running, go to the 'search' function of
Shoutcast and enter 'teletype' in the box, then hit 'go' or just the
return key.

You should oughta get another (overly complicated) Shoutcast screen with
one entry - hopefully the one we want ("News from Sequim... " etc)

Hit the "Tune In!" button on the left of the listing. You may have to
press the "play" button in Winamp - my system (WinTel LapTop/ Win2KPro)
just starts deedle-deedling at that point.

Now fire up your RTTY proggie, and enjoy.

Also note that you may have to fiddle with the Audio Software ins and
outs, and also, if using a Laptop - be aware that most of the Windows
versions have the on-board microphone enabled - this will pick up
extraneous noise and mix it into the AFSK stream - which will confuse your
RTTY utility, and simulate QRM. Be sure it's turned off, in the Audio
Control Panels, under 'Options", 'Recording'.

Give this a try - write back if no joy, or if you get it working...

   Cheers

John KB6SCO
