I  have been reading all these e-mails and I am learning a lot.

My 2 cents.  Writelog contest software has a dumb terminal mode.
I have used it with my ST-6.  It just needs RS-232, in/out and ground.

At $30.00 it is cheap.  I use Writelog for all my rtty contacts both ragchew and contesting.
