3450 rpm CAN be synchronous...  synchronous speed depends on number of pairs of poles as well as on line frequency...   doubling number of pole pairs = halving the speed of the motor..  I have worked on many Orgatron amplified reed organs with 3500 rpm TWO POLE synchronous motors...

not a good idea to think all synchronous motors turn at or near 1750 rpm....
