[GreenKeys] ST-8000 Mark Space Baud Rate Tuning

Thanks for the info Dino. Let me check the cable and if
it is fine, I will have a go at the encoder. The tone pairs
in the memory locations work fine. In fact, the ST-8000
works better than any TU that I have or have used. If it
is the encoder and it can't be fixed, I wonder if a person
can find one of those animals? However, I can always
set the tone pairs and baud rate via remote control.
Thanks...Herb

Herb - I had an encoder go bad on one of my ST-8K's a few years
back....someone had opened it up previous to me and the cover was off. I
resoldered all the PCB connections and the encoder came back to life.
Hopefully it's not a totally bad unit as replacing it would be very pricey.
Before I did any surgery though you may just want to check the cable that
connects the encoder on the front panel to the PCB....hopefully a little
DeOxit might fix the problem.
Can you still choose the tone pairs that are in memory? An associated
problem with the unit is the NVRAM chip that holds the memories runs out of
battery life after about 10 years. If that's your problem as well let me
know and I'll send you some info on a simple fix for that issue.
