Keys,
I have been asked to provide some vendor contact information for a few of the parts I have had restored as part of the Model 33 ASR projects.
I have included 4 photos, two before (top/bottom) and two after (top/bottom) of the 185700 Sub-Bases (NOTE:  I did 4 bases total and the "after" photo might not be the exact base as the "before", but...each was as bad as the other...so you get the point.).
When we stripped all the components from the sub-bases, it was clear that corrosion was forming under everything that could trap moisture - the isolation mounts, wire harnesses, foam oil pad, etc.  I was concerned that over time this corrosion might affect the structural integrity of the base so I decided to have them stripped, treated and powder-coated.  The powder vendor concluded that the pans were originally painted and that a powder solution would provide much better protection of the part long term.  The critical aspects of the restoration were to match the color exactly as well as the finish - the originals had a low-luster or satin appearance.
First we sent an original base with a decent area of original paint to California to have a custom powder blended to match the original color.  Next, the coater identified a low-gloss satin clear coat that will prevent the photo-sensitive silver powder from darkening over time and to match the original finish.  The results are really great.  The cost per sub-panel was $100 which included media-blasting to bare metal, removal of the corrosion, treatment between the panels with a rust preventative, color powder coating then clear powder coating.
The folks I used for this project were:
Bullseye Powdercoating2848 Stirling Rd, Unit AHollywood, FL 33020954-399-8796
They are keeping extra powder in stock in case anyone else would like to restore a sub-base.  It took them about a week to do all 4 panels.
NOTE:  You need to remove the nylon screw blocks (5) from the panels before sending them out for restoration!  I had the three original labels on the back of the sub-base photographed and reproduced as well.
I hope this helps someone who is restoring a '33.
thanks.--daveW5DT
