A 33 from the factory usually needs 20MA on the receive side. The send side can be whatever satisfies your RS232 adapter.
The 33 with UCC-6 does not supply any external loop current either transmitting or receiving as they normally come from the factory.
Only local loop current is supplied.
What Julien has in his electronic unit is a mystery to me as I have never seen the electronics in it before.
