I am surprised there has been no response to this. There must be
quite a bit in the archives of this list. I am far from an expert but I
know the M26 was a relatively low cost machine supplied by Bell System
to TWX stations expected to have low volume. It is one of the few
machines where the carriage moves instead of the type basket. This can
cause some difficulty with paper feed since the paper has to slide back
and forth with the carriage. I think the fractions were standard on
business oriented machines.
AFAIK, they are suitable to ham use but I don't think they will go
faster than 60WPM.
