Does this happen only when inputting from the keyboard, or also when
decoding signals from the loop?  (You may know this, but ...) The
keyboard and the page printer are connected only via the current loop.
It seems unlikely to me that the page printer would glitch in such a
way that the clutch ran twice *and* the same character decoded twice;
I would expect such a glitch to have either garbage, a blank, or LTRS
on the second turn.  I suspect your keyboard is actually sending the
character twice, and the problem is in its mechanism to prevent key
repeat.

It's harder to see the keyboard mechanism.  Do you have anything else
you can put in the loop to verify?
