[GreenKeys] Strange CR problem M28

I thought I had the more often encountered problem of CR bounce. 
After some head scratching.  I examined print the out more closely.  QUICK is printed with the Q at the left margin.  THE is printed E H T where the E is overprinted on the Q.  

So it appear the last 1/2" inch or so of the return is slowed down.  That's about where the dashpot is engaged.  So at this point I've removed the ball and spring from the dashpot.  Still too much "braking" action.  

Removed dashpot, verified that all the ports are clear of any obstructions.  Cleaned the interior, but didn't use any solvent, maybe should have.  Replaced dashpot and nothing has changed.  I don't recall there's any lubricant indicated, but going to check those instructions.

I have checked the typebox track motion with the dashpot out of the picture and it slams the left margin as expected. 

I need some ideas on what to check next.
