Should be no problem. A linear amplifier is a linear amplifier and if it is amplifying in ABx or B configuration, it shouldn't be a problem (just don't overdrive the 3 6146's in the Valiant).
FYI, I did do a similar experiment: driving a Johnson Courier with an SGC-2020. Works. Had I the relays to "transceive" the 2020 with the Courier, it might have been an awesome 500 watt SSB/CW rig! FWIW. Cal, N6KYR.
