[Lowfer] Medfer Loop Design

It wouldn't be entirely accurate to say a loop is ground independent, as the
ground under it does affect performance. But it does not require a ground
system as such. Going higher with the loop should make you more independent
of the ground characteristics and improve the electrical symmetry of the
loop.
The data in Bill Ashlock's series in The LOWDOWN can be scaled for MedFER.
However, the problem remains that a loop of those characteristics requires a
tremendously generous definition of the word "length" to meet the 3 meter
TOTAL LENGTH requirement of the MedFER rules.
This probably re-opens that infamous can of worms again. I fear the
arguments will be analagous to what I encountered over the holiday weekend
while breaking-in the new Harley, plus having to keep very strictly to the
posted speed limit. [Apart from the RPM limits, I figure a certified
speedometer probably removes any excuse about not realizing what speed I was
going.] At any rate, down here in the "law and order belt," I was being
passed regularly in No Passing zones because the posted limit was just too
inconvenient for Cousin Bubba on his way to the beer & bait shop. Not just
once or twice...regularly! In a way it was handy for me, because I could
then vary my engine speed downward for a while without further
inconveniencing anyone. But as with loops, justifying it requires an
exceedingly generous definition of both the number "55" and the word "no" in
No Passing. :)
