That's how I used to work 2m from inside a very well shielded lab.  I used
my HT which coupled to a GOES downlink co-ax that had been cut off with
about 5' hanging in the Lab, the remainder which was lying on the roof.
Worked great!  I ran low enough power to not interfere with anything and got
out great.
