I, too, have direct evidence of several Lowfers running overpower. In the
late 80's and early 90's I had two guys in the north east (both no longer
around) and one guy in the west (status unknown) all admit to me that they
exceeded 1W. The largest power input admitted to was 50 watts. Additionally,
I am aware of one transmitter that used to operate in New England that had a
heat sink the size of Rhode Island. Never got a handle on it's power. Bill
is aware of this transmitter so it might be one of the ones he speaks of.

I think I accidentally ran 2 watts once until WA showed me my mathematical
miscalculation.
