[Milsurplus] Who used the ZB/BC-946

Marty, i'm not doubting this loss story, but wondering why i've not 
read of it anywhere in my years of reading or even just scanning
aviation mags, where you'd think it might be mentioned more 
often. I recall reading about one Pacific incident but it was nowhere
near the scale you indicate. A fraction of it.
Also- are you sure the AN beacons were ever set up on the islands?
I don't have a facility chart handy right now, but from it, i got the 
impression the LF beacons were simple NDB type things. And
coexisting with YG/YE systems, and if i'm not mistaken maybe
radar beacons.  -Hue
