And tonight is the Heavy Metal Rally, a celebration of big AM rigs
from the past. A lot of interesting equipment shows up on the air not
normally heard, from old marine rigs and broadcast transmitters to big
military boxes like BC-610s, T-368s, and numerous other rigs. And
while the suggested guidelines are 250 watts and/or 250 pounds, you'll
hear other rigs like the venerable TCS and ART-13.

It's not really a contest, more a time to get on the air and let folks
hear whatever old transmitter you might have. Start time is local
sundown until midnight tomorrow, December 31st. There is no
requirement beyond using the AM mode, of course.

I'll be trying to bore a hole in the aether from just north or
Raleigh, NC. Hope to work some of you. Hoping to have the T-368 on air
if the PTO stability issue can be settled, otherwise have a couple
other commercial rigs available.
