Nick,
It is interesting that this is the LaPort collection.
There is an aerial adapter used with the WS19 when mounted on an AFV,
called Adapter, LaPort.
The adapter is a "V" shaped casting that allows an antenna base, designed
for a single verticle whip, to be fitted with two verticle wvips, each
roughly 15 degrees off-vertical.
On the WS19, the standard whip is 3x 4' sections screwed together.
I assume this is so two shorter whips can be used in place of a longer one
and still have enough capacitance to be resonated by the Aerial
Variometer.
LaPort is a pretty unusual name. It must have been the same guy.
Best,
-John
