[GreenKeys] RE: OT: CompUSA

Ever since I bought the last Colorado tape drive they had and paid full,
new price for it, only to learn it had been sold and re-shrunk, I wouldn't
touch CompUSA with a ten ft pole. How do I know it was a RETURN and not a
"NEW" product? The male pins on the output pin connector were arranged so
that IF you forced the connector with the 'keyed' (one hole filled-in)
cable that came with it, you would literally push the square, solid pin
backwards and out (effectively) of the plastic 'harmonica' connector. Some
idiot tried to put the cable on backwards, then took the drive back when it
certainly didn't work.

Their so-called technical department didn't even check it. The pin is
easily visible, and it was probably a common-enough customer error at the
time. Total incompetence, combined with deceit. Just the kind of guys you
want to stake your reputation on with your clients.

The tape drive was clearly a return. By law, it is not a NEW item, and
thus, was falsely labelled. Since my customer NEEDED the drive, and since
the remedy is that SOMETIMES you can pull the pin back out (it won't break
if you're lucky-and I was that night) I just went ahead and used it,
informing the client of this entire situation.

If they're doing that sort of thing, what else are they lying about? I
NEVER allow anyone to lie to me twice. Period. This was over 5 years ago,
and they have lost thousands of dollars in potential sales to my clients
since.
