Many of us have clustered around 555 only to increase our chances of being 
heard.  Listeners can tune to one spot and have a chance of bagging 
several beacons.

This has worked well and many of us do the same thing on LF over the 
winter.

But many operate "in the clear", too.

Hopefully someone will answer this one.  I do not know of a reliable 
means.  I've been told a grounded piece of aluminum foil over the 
oscillator will lower the freq. a few Hz but I have not tried it.  Anyone 
know?
